Elle attends her 1st birthday party(s)

Eleiana got invited to not only one but TWO birthday parties today! First, we drove down to Chesapeake Beach to attend the Elmo-themed birthday party of Daddy Jarbs friend's daughter, Emmy. She got to wear an Elmo party hat! Too bad she's still too little to join the games!

After going to Emmy's Elmo-themed birthday party, we went straight to Hayden's Mickey Mouse-themed birthday party!

Elle got to see her friend Lara again.

Another Wizards game and Elle's princess throne

It's MLK holiday today so Daddy Jarbs did not have to go to work. We went to another Wizards game...Elle's 3rd game! Lo and behold, they won again! Elle has a 3-0 record. She's the Wizards' lucky charm :-)

After the game, Elle met the former basketball player and now Wizards commentator, Phil Chenier!

When we got home, Daddy Jarbs assembled Elle's high chair. Elle loves sitting upright now and loves sitting on the couch. We need a place to safely "park" her when we're in the living room or dining room so we figured it's time to bust out the Boon high chair given my her Auntie Anabel and Uncle Christian.

We love that we can safely strap her in and easily push it around. It has a pneumatic lift and a brake so we can easily "park" her anywhere in the house :-). Thanks again Auntie Anabel and Uncle Christian!

I'm a big girl now!

Trip to Big Bear and Elle's first word!

We started off the day with a morning walk to our neighborhood coffee shop, Big Bear Cafe. I wore Elle in my new Beco Gemini carrier! When we got to Big Bear, Elle kept looking around. She loved looking at people and was particularly fascinated with the ceiling fans lol. There was a one year boy sitting across from us who was checking Elle out! The little boy kept looking and smiling. Our little Elle started smiling and giggling! lol. Daddy Jarbs wasn't happy! 

Eleiana said her first word today...or so we think :-). Since she was born, we keep calling her by her nickname "Elle" and repeat it to her over and over again. This afternoon, we were playing with her and Daddy Jarbs had her on his lap while repeating her name over and over again. He said "Elle" and one second after she said "Elle" loud and clear!! Daddy Jarbs and I looked at each other in disbelief!!  Hopefully, that's a good sign that she likes her name :-).

Elle's 2nd Wizards game

We took Elle to her second Washington Wizards game today. We've been taking her out since she was a week old so she'll slowly get used to being out in public. We do not want her to be the type of baby who's scared of people and being out in the crowd. Daddy Jarbs and I are happy that so far, she's been behaving well whenever we're out. The noise and the crowd does not bother her. One day, we know all our hardwork will pay off :-).

The game ran through Elle's feeding time so we had to watch the second half of the game at the Dewar's Lounge on the Club Level to feed her.

Eleiana meets Valentina & Sebastian and more oball fun!

My co-worker Patty and her kids, Valentina and Sebastian, stopped by the house today to meet Eleiana. Elle is still too young to play with them but soon enough she will be running around with them!

During play time, Elle played with her oball rattle again. Just a few days ago she can barely hold the ball but today, she can grip it with BOTH hands! Yay!

Umm..and then she wanted to eat it! lol

Elle wanted to chill on the bed and play before bath time. She loved playing peekaboo with mommy and clapping her hands!

Daddy Jarbs has been sick since Monday so he can't go near Elle. He can only look and play with her from afar :-(.

Here's a video we took of Elle this morning while playing in her crib. You can see how excited she was when we turned on the mobile. It did not take long though before she got tired and started fussing :-).

During Elle's last doctor's appointment, the pediatrician told us that that over the next couple of months, we should expect Elle to use her hands more and start griping things. Well, to help her practice her grip, we got her an oball rattle at Babies R Us!

Elle had fun hitting the elephant rattle in her activity mat with her oball rattle! Good job baby!

The Jarbs family drove out to South Riding for a post holiday party with our good friends.  As usual, great food, gifts and company!

During the evening, Daddy Jarbs and I had another party to go to in Georgetown. Grandma and Grandpa Jarbs came over to babysit Elle! I finally had my first (half) glass of red wine since I gave birth. Daddy Jarbs and I had our mini date night!, Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Jarbs  :-).

Elle gets really excited when we turn on her crib mobile. She would start kicking her legs, move her arms and start smiling. Too cute :-).

I took these photos today and as I look at them, I can't help but think how big my baby has grown :-(. It is indeed true that they grow up so fast!

Two month check up!

Elle had her 2 month check up today. She now weighs 10 lbs 14 ozs and is 23 inches long! Her weight is right on average. Her height is still above average and is at the 75th percentile!

Elle also had two vaccine shots. I was worried how she'll react but surprisingly, our brave girl only cried for a split second and was fine :-).

Happy 2nd month birthday, Eleiana!

Eleiana turns 2 months old today! How time flies! Here are her 2 month photos:

Since we were taking pictures, I had her try out the hat given by grandaunt Marissa. She normally hates wearing hats but surprisingly, she did not complain when I put this on. Soo adorable!

When Daddy Jarbs came home, we celebrated Elle's 2-month birthday with cupcakes from Crumbs bakeshop.

Peanut butter cup and white hot chocolate cupcakes. Yum!

 

 She kept looking at the cupcake and wanted to dive into it! lol.

Fun facts:

- smiles a lot now

- has started cooing and talking to Mommy & Daddy Jarbs

- has very good head control

- has very strong leg muscles. She kicks really hard and can stand up assisted

- loves bath time! She takes a bubble bath every night and cries when bath time is done.

- loves being naked. She cries when we put on her clothes.

- has pooped in the tub while getting her bubble bath! lol

- smiles when she sees herself in the mirror

Our little Houdini

I woke up this morning and saw Elle happily playing in her crib. Normally, she would do her "I am already awake. Come and get me" cry. Surprisingly, she was just happy chillin' in her crib. Also, when Daddy Jarbs put her down last night, he laid her down on the farther side of the crib. When we woke up this morning, Elle was already on the opposite side of the crib and had her body turned 180 degrees. She wiggled her way into the other end of the crib! Too funny. We also noticed that she had her right arm sticking out of her swaddle blanket! She hates being swaddled so it cracks us up when she manages to wiggle her arms out.

We just stayed home all day and Elle entertained us with her smiles. She looks like Daddy Jarbs in these pictures!

Later in the day, Elle hung out with daddy and watched football!

First day of the year!

We had our first visitor for the new year! Our friend Danny, who used to live in Virginia but now lives in the Bay area, visited us. It was his first time to meet Eleiana. Danny is Mommy Jarbs' good friend. He was one of the first few people who "caught" me and Daddy Jarbs dating. We bumped into him in the restaurant during our second date. Little did we know that 7 years later, we'll have our little Eleiana. 

 

We went to Chinatown for lunch where Danny treated us in our favorite Chinese restaurant, Full Kee. After that, we walked around Gallery Place and showed Danny the new places which he hasn't seen since he moved out of DC.
