Day care is closed today and another video!

This morning we got an email from day care informing us that they are having problems with their cooling system. Originally, they were going to open 2 hours late. Two emails later, we were informed that the day care will be closed for the day because they were not able to solve the problem. Ugh. Good thing Daddy Jarbs was able to stay home with Elle today. Hopefully, the a/c problem will be solved by tomorrow!

This was taken when I woke up this morning. Elle was already awake and playing in her crib. Here she is looking towards the door, waiting for somebody to come get her.

Looks like she's practicing getting on all fours. She may start crawling soon after all :).

I took this video before I left for work. I was getting some clothes from her armoire when she pulled up to standing position! It was the first time she has done that while in the crib. Too bad I did not catch it on video. Of course, when I got my camera phone, she did not want to do it again :-P. Here you can see what she loves doing inside her crib. She pulls the crib bumper, looks through the slats, and bites/licks them! Towards the end of the video, you can see her do her fake cough :-).

4th night without a pacifier!

We have started the process of slowly weaning Elle off the pacifier. As it is, we only give her a pacifier while she is in the crib during naptime/bedtime or when we are out in public and she starts fussing. Pacificiers are not allowed at her day care so she is mostly pacifier-free during the day. We have noticed that she's slowly getting depended on the pacifier during bed time which prompted us to start the weaning process.The earlier we nip it in the bud, the better. Tonight marked the 4th night that she went down without a pacifier! Yay! For the past few nights, whenever I'd put her down on the crib, I'd hand her Kaloo rabbit (we call it Mr. Rabbit :-P) and she would get so excited. It's so soft and squishy :-). I think she's slowly associating Mr. Rabbit with nap/bed time so it keeps her mind off of her binky. When I'd check on her in the middle of the night, I'd see her with one arm wrapped around Mr. Rabbit. Aww, how sweet!  At  her age, I am not worried about SIDS or her suffocating on her stuffed animal. She moves A LOT during her sleep and can move her head if she needs to. We're keeping our fingers crossed that we won't ever have to bring her binky out during bedtime.

One of Elle's favorite things to do is dance. Here's a video of her with Daddy Jarbs dancing to the reggae music. It's so funny how she raises her arms and raises the roof lol.

I realized that I have not posted a video of Elle in a while. Here is a video of her in her high chair while I was feeding her. She is now in the habit of throwing things and you can see here how she threw her sippy cup on the floor!!

Recently, she has learned how to fake cough. She would do it to get our attention. It's way too obvious that the cough is fake/forced and that she is doing it on purpose. We are not sure where she has learned to do that. It is actually pretty funny. Daddy Jarbs and I crack up whenever she does it. I tried to catch a video of her doing the fake cough but of course she stopped when I started recording. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch it next time she does it.



Dancing with Tita Elie

One of Elle's favorite things to do is listen and dance to the Filipino children songs. Here are some photos I took while she and her Tita Elie were dancing. 

Once she hears the music, she starts smiling. Yes, she knows her songs :-).

Today, we finally had to adjust Eleiana's crib to the next lower setting. We put Elle down for a nap on her crib this afternoon. She won't stop fussing so we checked on her through the video monitor. Well,  when we looked at the monitor, the little stinker was pulling up halfway on the side of her crib and peeking down the floor! Daddy Jarbs and I both got excited and scared at the same time. We ran up to her room to make sure she doesn't fall off the crib! She has also started biting on the crib railing! She has probably been doing this for quite some time because there were a few teeth marks on the crib railing which we have never noticed before. Daddy Jarbs immediately went to work and adjusted the crib. We put Elle back down to see how she likes. It seems like she enjoys the lower crib setting better! Now she enjoys peeking in between the crib slats. She would put her face in between the slats and smile lol. It was pretty funny. She also keeps pulling on the crib bumper :-/. Daddy Jarbs and I have been in denial that we have to start childproofing our house. Now, we really have to seriously start working on it!

Visit from Tito Tim

My cousin Tim, who happens to be Eleiana's godfather visited us this weekend along with his girlfriend, Kayla. They drove up all the way from Charlotte. 

Eleiana has a little bit of stranger anxiety and it takes a while for her to warm up to new faces. She kept looking at her Tito (Tito = uncle in Filipino) Tim and Kayla and would give them a kiss but would cry if they try to hold her. 

 

She's fine having Tito Tim sit beside her as long as Mommy Jarbs is holding her

Elle has started sucking her upper lip a couple of weeks ago. Now, she does it all.the.time. It actually looks pretty cute and funny. I wonder if her gums are itchy or if a new tooth will pop out soon?

Day at the National Harbor

Today we drove out to the National Harbor for lunch. We checked out a new Italian restaurant that has a great view of the harbor. We got outside sitting so Elle was in her element!

 After lunch, we walked to the Gaylord Hotel where Elle watched the dancing fountain

Friday fun day!

Daddy Jarbs and I both got home early from work so we took Elle the park for some Friday afternoon fun!

Elle loves the bucket swing. She started to cry when we took her out 

of the swing to play on the slide. We ended up putting her back in the swing :-).

On the way back from the park, we stopped at our neighborhood tavern for dinner. Here's Eleiana enjoying her puffs while Daddy Jarbs and I were waiting for our food. Elle's pincer grasp has improved a lot. Just a few weeks ago, she would grab a piece of puffs, try to put it in her mouth but it would end up on the floor or stuck on her palms :-). Now, she can pick up each piece and actually put it inside her mouth and eat it.

She loves drinking water from a glass :-)

We forgot to bring a bib but the restaurant napkin did the job :-)

Fun day with Tita Elie

Yesterday was the first day that we left Eleiana in her Tita Elie's care. I was worried that she'll give her Tita a hard time but the case was the opposite :-). She was a happy baby all day! She happily played, ate all her food, took long naps and was a perfect angel all day :-). Tita Elie said Eleina enjoyed dancing to the Filipino children's songs that was playing on the dvd player. All the songs are familiar to her since we have the same cd playing in the car on the drive to/from day care everyday. Tita Elie said Elle called her attention when one song was playing. She wanted to be picked up from the play pen dance to the song lol. Her tita danced with her and she was so happy :-).

She went down for her naps with no problem. She had three naps total today- the first one she napped for 2 hrs, 2nd one for 1 hr 45 mins and the 3rd nap for another 2 hrs! We got one sleepy baby! Tita Elie took this photo of her falling asleep while holding on to the side of the crib!
