Mommy Jarbs' birthday dinner

Here are some photos taken last Sunday when we went out for my birthday dinner. Hurricane Irene was gone by Sunday afternoon so we went out for a nice dinner at Sequoia in Georgetown. The weather was very nice so we made sure to get outside sitting. For the first time, we were able to order from the kids menu! Elle got mac and cheese which I thought was yummy!

After dinner, we walked along the Georgetown waterfront. Elle enjoyed watching the ducks swim in the Potomac River. She got excited and shrieked when the ducks swam close to us lol.

Dinner with friends

When we got back from Annapolis yesterday, we met up with a few friends for dinner. Our friend, Elten is visiting from Hawaii so the Allen family also drove up from Maryland to meet with us.

Elle loved pretty little Zaynee! She kept staring, touching and smiling at Zaynee :-). Elle also enjoyed sitting on the high chair while we all ate our dinner. She was babbling a lot and was so loud. We had to shush her a few times because she was the loudest little person in the restaurant lol.

6th month doctor's appointment!

Today is Elle's monthly birthday and she is now 6 months old! It s true that time is flying by so fast!

These photos were taken before we left for work/day care. Daddy Jarbs had Elle hold on to the crib railing while standing up on her own. I was in the other room but saw her on the video monitor. I did not get to her room fast enough to take a photo of her standing up. She didn't want to do it again when I got to her room. Little stinker lol.

I picked up Elle from day care mid afternoon to take her to her 6th month doctor's appointment. She was in her normal happy self and had no clue of what was coming....6 month shots!

Here she is while we were in the waiting room. Yeah, she loves to pull her socks off! Her teacher at day care once told me that they have to take her socks off while in day care because she loves to play and eat them lol.

When the doctor finally saw us, she explained that Elle was going to have her 6 month shots that day. Elle, who was laying on the doctor's table started crying as soon as the doc said that lol. Yeah, as if she could understand. The entire time, she was looking at the doctor with fear in her eyes lol. The doc even made a comment that she is acting older than her age.

At 6 months, she now weighs 14 lbs 15 ozs (25th percentile) and 26 1/4 inches tall (75th percentile).  She is still growing well and the doctor did not see anything that we should be alarmed about. She also did pretty good when she got the shots. As expected, she cried when they stuck the needle in but stopped 2 seconds after it was done.
After we left the doctor's office, we drove out to Daddy Jarbs' office and picked him up from work. The weather was great so we stopped and had dinner at Old Town. Elle loves being outdoors so we got an outside sitting. Our big girl sat on the high chair while Mommy & Daddy Jarbs enjoyed our seafood dinner :-).

Fun day with Grandma Jarbs!

Daddy Jarbs came home early from work today so he and Grandma Jarbs took Elle for a walk.  The weather was beautiful so it was a perfect day for a walk. The trekked from our house all the way to Gallery Place. Daddy Jarbs worked on our Gallery Place condo while Grandma Jarbs walked around the neighborhood. Elle napped in the stroller while they were out. She loves the outdoors so she was in a great mood...except when Grandma Jarbs stopped at Tangysweet to get some frozen yogurt. Elle started fussing while Grandma Jarbs was in line to get her froyo. Eventually, Grandma Jarbs had to leave her place in line and skip the frozen yogurt :-P. Interestingly, frozen yogurt was the only thing I did not want to eat while I was pregnant. Maybe Elle remembered? lol

When I got out from work, I met them for dinner at our neighborhood Thai place, Beau Thai. She was in a great mood the entire dinner. She was babbling a lot, shrieking, smiling...

Here she is playing with her favorite toy, Mr. Monkey

Then she started grabbing Daddy Jarbs' glass of water. Since we'll have to start giving her solid food soon, we caved in and gave her a sip. It was funny to watch her suck and spit the water back out.

Here she is babbling...and then she grabbed and wanted to eat the camera
(sorry, Daddy Jarbs forgot to turn the camera again)

Trying out the Bob stroller and Elle's 1st trip to the bar!

Daddy Jarbs took off from work today so Mommy Jarbs can have a little break. I went shopping and ran errands while Daddy Jarbs and Elle stayed home. It's nice to have a mommy break once in a while :-).

When I got home, we tried out the BOB stroller to see how Elle would like it She already has good head control so technically, we can start using the BOB without any infant insert.

Hmm..she's not quite sure if she likes it yet

Maybe not! We'll try again in a few weeks!

For dinner, we walked over to our neighborhood pizza place/bar called Rustik Tavern. It's Elle's first trip to the bar! We got her a fake ID so she was able to get in lol jk :-).

As usual, she slept the entire time so we were able to enjoy our meal

Elle slept for 6 hrs!!

For the first time since I gave birth, I was able to go out and have dinner with my girlfriends! Daddy Jarbs stayed home and watched Elle. It was nice catching up with the girls!

When I got home, Daddy Jarbs already gave Elle a bath, read her book and put her to sleep. I then took over the baby duty and let Daddy Jarbs go to bed. Much to my surprise Elle slept from 11 pm to 5 am! She slept for 6 straight hours! Holy moly! That's definitely a first. I do not know if she'll sleep that long again tonight. I am crossing my fingers and toes!

Happy birthday Daddy Jarbs!

We did not have anything planned today for Daddy Jarbs' birthday. We expected that we will be busy taking care of a newborn by now. Needless to say, we were wrong. We ended up going to dinner at Marrakesh Restaurant and had Moroccan food. The food was not great but I guess you go there for the experience and the belly dancer! :-). The dancer did not look Moroccan though. We think she's Filipino!

Happy birthday Daddy Jarbs! You would have to wait for a few more days to get your special gift which will come in a special delivery :-). For now, I hope you enjoy your new Google phone :-). More celebration to come when Baby Jarbs arrives!

We're ready...

but Baby Jarbs is not :-(.

I had my weekly doctor's appointment this morning. Since I've been feeling some cramping for the past week, I was confident I would have some progress. Well, I was disappointed to find out that I am STILL 1 cm dilated and not even effaced yet :-(. Sigh. Since my primary doctor has given birth last week and will not be available when I give birth, I now have to see the other doctor. We moved the induction date from Nov 1st to Nov 3rd when my "new" doctor is on-call. Daddy Jarbs and I think that having the induction date later is better so it will give Baby Jarbs more time to come out on her own and naturally rather than being medically-induced.

Here's my belly pic for this week. I wonder if this will be my last bump pic before Baby Jarbs arrives. It does not look and feel like my belly has dropped though so we may still have a long way to go :-/.

39 week bump pic

At this point, we are willing to try anything to help push this baby out sooo, we went to Yechon and had spicy Korean food for dinner :-)

Bittersweet birthday!

Today is my birthday and it is kinda bittersweet. This is my last birthday before officially becoming a mom. I told Daddy Jarbs I just wanted a low key celebration and not do anything baby-related. I started off the day by getting a nice prenatal massage and hip adjustment from my chiropractor, who incidentally shares the same birthday as me. My nesting instinct has been kicking in so when I got home from my the chiro, I cleaned the house and organized the additional gifts that I have received during my work shower. So much for not doing anything baby-related.

Later in the day, Daddy Jarbs took me out again for dinner. This time, we went to  the famous Ray's The Steaks. They recently opened a new location in DC. The place is not fancy schmancy but the food was good nevertheless. I had been wanting to have a good piece of medium rare steak but since I am pregnant, I can't run the risk of eating raw meat and get sick. Sadly, I had to order my steak medium well :-(. I know it's not ideal but I still enjoyed the meal. The steak was very flavorful so I can just imagine how awesome it would be if I had gotten it medium rare. After I give birth, I want to go back to Ray's so I can completely enjoy a nice cooked steak guilt-free :-).
After dinner, Daddy Jarbs and I walked around Gallery Place, our old stomping ground. We ended up getting frozen custard and Italian ice for dessert :-).

When we got home and were walking towards the door, I glanced at my shadow on the neighbor's fence. I thought it looked pretty funny so Daddy Jarbs took this photo lol.

Pre-birthday dinner!

Daddy Jarbs took me out to a nice dinner tonight for my pre-birthday celebration. We went to Buddha Bar which is a nice restaurant close to our house. It just recently opened so it was our first time to eat there. The food was fantastic! We ate tons! I think my belly grew another inch after dinner :-).

When we got home, Daddy Jarbs gave me my birthday present. My birthday is not until tomorrow but I couldn't wait :-). I was not expecting to get any gift since he already got me an early birthday present .  It definitely was a pleasant surprise when he handed me a gift bag. I'm spoiled :-). This is what I got!!

A new Canon HD camcorder!!! :-). We have talked about eventually getting a camcorder that we can use when Baby Jarbs arrives. I had no idea he will get me this for my birthday. I am looking forward to using this to capture the cuteness of our little princess. Thanks Daddy Jarbs!

2nd wedding anniversary!

It has been a weekend of celebration! Today, Daddy Jarbs and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary! We wanted to have a low key celebration so we just did what we like doing best....EAT! We ordered in Thai food for lunch and busted out the fine china :-). For dinner, we headed out to Founding Farmers restaurant for a nice anniversary dinner - our last before Baby Jarbs arrives. She'll be able to celebrate with us during our wedding anniversary next year! :-)

On our way home, we did a drive by at Sibley Hospital where I am scheduled to give birth. Yes, we're mapping out our emergency route :-).

Whole crispy flounder, pad see ew and pad king tofu!

Check out this cool shirt (with matching pajama) that Daddy Jarbs gave to me as an anniversary gift. He gave me a couple other cute shirts too! How sweet :-).
